A superb performance of an unforgettable ballet
I was riveted from beginning to end by this remarkable ballet, with great dancing and acting, great choreography, a great enhancement of a mythic story, and not least great music. It is important to read the program first. I'm sorry some people didn't like the ballet, but I suspect they didn't bother to.
A little underwhelming
The ballet is beautifully staged, but is way too long and slow paced. The music is the most disappointing part of it but I presume great composers are hard to come by these days. Overall, I was not very much moved by the performance despite the dramatic plot, while usually I'm among the first to burst into tears at the theater. This is a stark contrast to John Neumeier's Nijinsky which I think was a great and impeccable ballet.
Horrible Music
I thought the set and costumes were beautiful. The music was horrific. I was in pain listening to it. Dancing was very underwhelming. I left after first act.
Terrible
This was the worst, most painful experience watching ballet. The music was awful, the dancing was creepy and the story made no sense. Many people left at intermission in disgust. I could not wait to leave my seat. It was unbearable to sit through this surreal, pretentious mess masquerading as art.
Agonizing first half
I could not leave my seat as I was inside the row. But I desperately wanted to. This ballet was very painful. The story line didn’t make sense. The dancing was dispassionate. If I hadn’t read the story in the handout I would have no idea what was happening. But the worse was the music was awful. No heart, no sense, just noise. I would have given no stars if I had had that option.
