Inject some nostalgia into your Christmas festivities with the San Antonio Symphony's extra special live screening of technicolor classic The Wizard Of Oz. Starring silver screen icon Judy Garland, the film's glorious marriage of fantastical storytelling, a singable, Academy Award-winning score and memorable characters made it an instant pop culture smash upon its release in 1939.
The symphony provides a sweeping orchestral backing to the the coming of age story of young farm girl Dorothy. When a tornado hits Kansas, the feisty heroine and her faithful canine sidekick Toto are whisked away to the magical realm of Oz. Following the Yellow Brick road, they make the acquaintance of a host of new friends including the Scarecrow, who is on the hunt for a brain, the Tin Man, who is missing a heart, and a Cowardly lion who is searching for courage. When they meet the Wizard, he sets them on a quest to recover the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West in exchange for his help.
