Patti Smith is Bringing Horses Back for a 50th Anniversary Tour

Author KevinKevin, February 14th, 2025

She's playing the whole thing from start to finish!

It defined the New York punk scene and earned a place in the US Library of Congress's National Recording Registry, and now 50 years have passed since the release of Patti Smiths groundbreaking album, which many call 'the first punk album'.

The poet, artist and activist doesn't consider herself a pioneer, instead, she calls her music "three-chord rock merged with the power of the word.", and that is an understatement. With its soaring Robert Mapplethorpe cover, Horses set the standard for future rock music with an intelligent, visceral and exciting methodology.

About The Show

Now's your chance to hear the legendary LP live as Smith takes her show across the US later this year! She won't be alone - original Horses band members Lenny Kaye (guitar) and Jay Dee Daugherty (drums) will be joining her.

There will also be a star-studded tribute concert at New York's Carnegie Hall on March 26, with big names like Michael Stipe, Kim Gordon, Matt Berninger (The National), Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and Sharon Van Etten, backed by a band that includes none other than Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
