San Francisco Symphony - MTT Conducts Symphonie Fantastique

The quintessential piece of the Romantic era
Why see San Francisco Symphony - MTT Conducts Symphonie Fantastique?
AN INCREDIBLE MASTERPIECE
A grand and vivid portrait of the life of an artist, Hector Berlioz's 1830 Symphonie Fantastique remains one of the most important works of the romantic period. Innovative and radical, it segues through pastoral scenes, carnivals, supernatural characters and more in a dreamlike and transporting manner that Leonard Bernstein went on to describe as the first foray into Psychedelia.
Thought to be inspired by his passions for a beautiful Irish actress and composed under the influence of opium, Symphonie Fantastique is a marvellous piece of orchestral music thats influence will never leave you after the first, second, or tenth viewing.
The concert will begin with Pianist Jeremy Denk's interpretation of Bartok's 2nd piano concerto.
