Garson Kanin's Capitol Hill caper gets a welcome revival at the San Francisco Playhouse this season courtesy of director Susi Damilano. As timely today as it was back in 1946, Born Yesterday examines the culture of bribery and corruption between business and Congress through the eyes of ditzy Showgirl Billie and her journalist turned tutor Paul.
When she arrives in D.C on the arm of ruthless businessmen Harry, Billie couldn't give a hoot about being in the seat of power. As Harry sets out to bribe a Senator for his business interests, he hires journalist Paul to scrub up her image and make her more palatable for his Washington cronies. Billie excels in her lessons, revealing a whip smart brain behind the sequins. However, when she applies her learning to her surroundings, she realizes she must do something to stop Harry from succeeding...
