Join San Francisco Symphony Orchestra with guest conductor Gustavo Dudamel, as he leads the orchestra through a rousing performance of Johannes Brahms' marvelous second symphony. A true jewel in the Romantic orchestral canon, the piece was composed in beautiful Austria in 1877, with the surroundings clearly evidenced in the playfulness of the piece. 

The range of atmospheres across the four movements jump between melodies reminiscent of joyous folk dances, hauntingly beautiful love pieces or triumphant climaxes, all leading towards a rich and sophisticated masterpiece which is rightly beloved in the world of classical music. Star conductor Dudamel joins from his regular role as music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
