Why see San Francisco Symphony - Esa-Pekka Salonen and Yefim Bronfman?
Schumann and Bruckner
Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the talented pianist Yefim Bronfman and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra through Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto and Anton Bruckner's fourth, Romantic symphony.
Schumann's only piano concerto was composed across four years, subtly paying tribute to the subject of his greatest inspiration and most trusted aide, his wife. Bruckner's wonderful Romantic symphony was a true triumph for the composer upon its debut, turning him from being a regular recipient of boos, to a much loved figure of Austrian music, almost overnight.
