The slow beats of Ravel!
Passion infuses this Spanish influenced program
Passion infuses this Spanish influenced program
Dreams of far-off Spain form the basis for this sultry program, headlined by Ravel's Bolero. From Frank Zappa to the Winter Olympics, this sensational work, with its insistent rhythms has endured for the composer, becoming one of his most popular pieces.
Overseeing proceedings is returning guest conductor Pablo Heras-Casado, who'll also work his magic on another Ravel classic, Alborado del gracioso, his piece paying tribute to his friend Michel-Dimitiri Calvocoressi. Additionally, Spanish passion continues with Debussy's Iberia and a recital of Bartok's optimistic Piano Concerto No.3, led by Javier Perianes.
