Heisenberg

Heisenberg at A.C.T Geary Theatre

Why see Heisenberg?

The Poignant Broadway Hit Comes To San Francisco

Simon Stephen's triumphant, bold and intelligent Broadway hit Heisenberg comes to San Francisco's A.C.T Geary Theatre this Spring. The two-character drama followed the playwright's award-winning The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime, premiering on the Great White Way in the fall of 2016 to rave reviews.

A startling examination of chance encounters and human interaction, Heisenberg follows young American woman Georgie who unexpectedly plants a kiss on the neck of the much older British butcher Alex. Two vastly different worlds collide as the kiss and its repercussions reverberate throughout their lives, changing them irrevocably.

Really excellent

After being disappointed by Viet Gone our expectations weren't very high, but we were pleasantly surprised by how excellent is Heisenberg. The performances and production are stellar, and the play itself interesting and engaging throughout. The plot takes (mostly unexpected) twists and turns, and the dialog is what one would expect from a very talented English playwright. Most enjoyable, and highly recommended. ... Read more

A play you'll discuss afterward

Engaging play. Great dialogue. The female character is so outrageous and hyper, but is well balanced by the calm demeanor and latent sexuality of the older man. The set is simple, spare, so you can sit anywhere and enjoy it. It's really the dialogue that captures your attention. Highly recommend the play, especially to unmarried women and older adult men. Some good laughs and good thoughts to pursue., ... Read more

But there are also deeper themes here involving, as the title suggests, seemingly random collisions between humans where there is much uncertainty about their identities, life histories, motives, and particularly, the outcome of the encounter. The behavior and responses of the two characters who form the entirety of this 90 minute play is, if nothing else, quite unpredictable. How will things turn out? Seemingly, it's anybody's guess. The acting is high quality and the staging is imaginative. You leave the theater feeling a bit unsure of just what has transpired, but pleased to have encountered these two characters and witnessed the twists and turns of their deepening relationship ...
