Soak up the warm days of spring with the blissful, poolside funk-fusion grooves of sun-worshipping trio Khruangbin. The Houston-based vibe-masters are bringing their signature sound to North America with a run of homecoming shows. As part of their 2025 A LA SALA Tour, Khruangbin will perform in Texas on select dates. Drawing from eclectic influences far beyond the usual Western canon, these musical collagists craft evocative soundscapes, delivering some of the finest chill funk around.
Expanding on the soaring sonic explorations of 60s and 70s Thai prog and funk of their 2015 debut album The Universe Smiles Upon You, Khruangbin has expanded their pioneering experimentations in a sound pallet that includes the sounds of the Middle East and the Mediterranean. The expansion of their border-crossing, sunny, optimistic and exciting sound spills out onto the stage in a whirl of hypnotic kaleidoscopic jams, making for electric and feel-good live shows filled with glacial licks, staccato riffs and hip-shaking grooves.

I knew I loved their music, but seeing Khruangbin perform--powered by the mighty sound system at Road Runner, the light show and disco balls--yowza. Run don't walk to catch this breakthrough, highly original group, who have been shaped by numerous musical forces. Mark Speer is truly one of the most talented guitarists on planet earth. Fantastic show!! I need to get the set list. This was a great show with plenty of great peaks and grooves, great transitions, timing and wonderful interludes between. One of the standouts was when the sound system cut and the band continued to play, hearing themselves only and the crowd clapped throughout and then BAM!!, sound came back and Khruangbin was just jamming out the whole time! Just OUTSTANDING jams, and sweet funky grooves that got me dancing through out the evening! I am a big fan now and looking at the tour for more opportunities to see them live! Highly recommended.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to see them at Shaky knees in Atlanta w MMJ! The Sunday line up at Swetwater has me booked already, damn it!!! Need more of this airplane band, Khruangbin!! ... Read more
