As the creative force and vocalist with 80s new wave rockers Oingo Boingo, Elfman caught the attention of fans Tim Burton and Paul Reubens, who asked him to score their 1985 movie Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Despite having no formal training, Elfman was a natural, leading to a collaborative relationship with Burton that lasts until this day. A deft master of many genres spanning dark and quirky to epically moving and romantic, Elfman has received myriad awards for his film work and continues to be an influential artist.
