Two great works return to SF Ballet
In April 2024 audiences can enjoy a highly anticipated return of two standout productions from the San Francisco Ballet's 2024 season, "Broken Wings" by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Sir Frederick Ashton's "Marguerite and Armand." Ochoa's dynamic portrayal of Frida Kahlo's life is brought to life with a wonderful original score infused with mariachi music, with movement and music intertwining to capture the essence of Kahlo's paintings.
Accompanying this is the reprise of "Marguerite and Armand," a passionate work by Sir Frederick Ashton. Originally created for the legendary ballet duo Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn, who performed with the San Francisco Ballet in 1967, the work showcases the enduring allure of depicting heartfelt expressions of love and sacrifice through balletic glory.
