Three outstanding choreographers present three ballets that fuse the modern with the classic. San Francisco Ballet choreographer-in-residence Yuri Possokhov's Classical Symphony is performed to Prokofiev's 1917 work of the same name. French choreographer Benjamin Millepied's Appassionata is set to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven and Russian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky's The Seasons is a rework of Marius Petipa's 1900 ballet.
Classical Symphony is inspired by the choreographer's memories of boyhood, Appassionata is about three couples falling in and out of love and The Seasons is a colorful and vibrant work of ballet.
