This winter the San Francisco Opera will perform Gaetano Donizetti and Felice Romani's The Elixir of Love. The comic melodrama opera first premiered in 1832 and has since been one of the world's most-performed operas. Taking the helm is the renowned multi-award-winning opera and theater director Daniel Slater, who has directed over 80 operas in his career. Ramon Tebar will make his company conducting debut and the stage design is by Robert Innes Hopkins.
What's it about?
Nemorino, a young waiter working in a hotel on the seaside becomes infatuated with Adina, the owner of the hotel in which he works. But with no money and no prospects trying to woo this woman is practically impossible... Or is it? A mysterious salesman turns up with a bottle of "magic elixir". Will it work? Get your tickets and immerse yourself in the fabulous 1950s seaside resort filled with glitz and glam to find out!
